Are Intensive Driving Lessons Suitable For Me?
When it comes to learning to drive, you have a few different options. One of them is an intensive driving course — very popular with people who want to pass their driving test quickly. But intensive lessons aren't suitable for everyone. Here's an honest look at the pros and cons.
The pros
The chance to pass quickly. An intensive course gives you the opportunity to pass your test far quicker than standard weekly lessons — days or weeks rather than months. It's a good option if you need to pass soon: starting a new job where public transport isn't viable, for example.
Brilliant for those with some experience. If you've had lessons before, driven with parents, or failed a test and want to get over the line, an intensive course builds on what you already have. Our 12-hour Long Weekend and 20-hour Booster courses are designed for exactly this.
The cons
Long hours are demanding. Intensive lessons mean driving for hours at a time. That can be tiring, stressful and daunting if you've never been on the road before.
Cramming doesn't work for everyone. There's a lot to learn when driving, and squeezing it all into a short window can mean too much information at once — leading to confusion and feeling under-prepared for the test. Confidence matters on test day.
So who should book one?
Anyone can book intensive lessons, but they're better suited to learners with some driving experience. If you're a brand-new learner, building experience over months of weekly lessons is hugely beneficial — and often works out better value. If you've driven before but never got around to passing, an intensive course can work brilliantly.
