Covid-19 Driving Lessons
Driving Lessons during Covid-19
Driving Lessons during Covid-19 will look a little bit different and we will be doing everything we can to keep you and ourselves safe during this time.
What does a Covid-19 driving lesson look like?
First all your normal driving lesson procedures will still apply, and you will still be learning road safety in the same way.
Differences come in how we interact with each other and do our best to prevent any cross contamination.
First, we will be checking with you before the lesson, to ensure you don’t have any symptoms and haven’t come in contact with anyone with Covid-19. When you arrive for the lesson, we will ask you to sanitize your hands before entering the car, the car will have been cleaned and disinfected before the lesson. During the lesson we will sanitize again if we touch the steering wheel anything else to assist you and that area will be wiped down.
We will be wearing masks during the lesson to prevent contamination, we won’t force you to wear masks but advise it and also will have to wear one for your driving test, so getting used to them will be helpful anyway.
After a lesson avoid touching your face and wash your hands as soon as possible.
What is different about the driving test during Covid-19
The driving test will be conducted to the same standards and you will be tested on the same topics as before.
Procedure before and during the driving test has changed slightly.
- Wearing a mask is compulsory for a driving test unless you have a medical reason not to.
- Examiners will now meet you by your car rather than in the test waiting room.
- Tests will be staggered to limit the number of people at the test centre at any one time.
- You should arrive at the test centre 5 minutes early.
- Your driving instructor won’t be allowed to sit in on the test.
- If you fail whilst out on test, the examiner will direct you back to the test centre and cut the test short, to limit the amount of time together in the car.
- Feedback at the end of the test will be given outside the car.
- You must not turn up for test if you have symptoms of Covide-19 or have been in contact with someone who has Covid-19. You will not be charge for cancelling a test at short notice for these reasons.
